Bowling alley in the gutter?

TAMUK to decide its fate

Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) along with the Student Government Association (SGA) plan to remodel or remove the bowling alley on campus, keeping student wants in mind. Last month, the SGA sent out a campus wide email asking students to fill out a survey on what they wanted to do with the bowling alley. The survey asked if the university should redo the bowling alley, make it a relaxation area or expand the e-sports lounge. SGA President Jacqueline McClendon really enjoys the bowling alley but feels that it is too outdated to enjoy. “I feel like I would like it to be renovated and brought back up to par. However, we’re left with that situation of do we dump millions of dollars into renovating a facility or just move on,” McClendon said. The consensus with the survey so far is that students want to expand the e-sports lounge or make it a larger space for athletic activities. There are students like Juliet Salce, who is in a bowling class this semester, who enjoy the bowling alley. “I love the class, I actually look forward to it and it’s even a 9 a.m., on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and it would be pretty cool if they redid it,” Salce said. There are also students who think the bowling alley should be revamped, like student athlete Adrienne VanBrunt. “The bowling alley needs some updates. Literally every other ball that’s rolled would get stuck in the gutter and the person that worked there would have to go get it out,” Vanbrunt said. Whether you like the bowling alley or not this is your time as a student to speak up and vote, the link to the survey is https://forms.office.com/r/dcH8hfWY8R
