TAMUK Peeps hunt golden eggs

SECL hosted Easter Bash

Hope you had an egg-cellent Easter just as our Javelina peeps did.

The Annual Javelina Easter Bash and Egg Hunt was held on Monday, March 24, at the Intramural Fields.

It was a way to kick off the week with free pizza, axe throwing, spike ball, an egg hunt, loads of prizes, and so much more.

Not only did the students who found golden eggs win, there were even prizes in the traditional-colored eggs. TAMUK senior Samantha Perada explains the exciting moment when she found a golden egg.

“Oddly enough I decided to go all the way on the other side of the field and there [were] two guys next to me and as soon as the whistle was blown, they ran off to the other side and ran passed the golden egg,” Perada said.

Since Perada found the golden egg, her prize was a modern instant film, pastel blue, Polaroid camera.

“I’m so happy because it was the first time I won a prize in anything like this,” Perada said.

Holding events such as an Easter egg hunt brings out the inner child for these college students.

Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) student worker Vincent Ochoa expressed the joy he felt searching for the Easter eggs.

“It’s a lot of fun doing these things. I went running around and got a lot of candy,” Ochoa said.

This event encouraged students to come out, have fun, and enjoy a free event with their fellow classmates.

“It’s fun to do these annual events because it makes sure students know what we do, and what we can bring to the campus, and just what to expect every year from campus events. [It’s] just a fun way to interact with people around campus,” Ochoa said.  Making sure students have a great time at these annual events is huge goal for the SECL.

“My job is to make sure all students are satisfied with everything at all the events,” SECL student worker David Beltran said. “I look forward to attending future events.”

Be on the lookout for SECL’s next event Walk a Mile in Her Shoes on Wednesday, April 3.
