Review: Starbucks’ Toasted White Chocolate Mocha

A sweet drink for the holidays

The holidays are near, and Starbucks’ new drinks are here.

Recently, Starbucks added their Christmas line up back to their menu.

I entered the Starbucks located in the Student Union Building (SUB) and noticed the Caramel Brulée latte, Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino and the Toasted White Chocolate Mocha in the menu staring right at me, begging me to buy one of them.

As a Christmas and coffee enthusiast, who am I to deny myself the pleasure of trying these holiday drinks?

Having already tried the Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino (a true delicacy and an all-time favorite by the way), I went ahead and bought myself the Toasted White Chocolate Mocha.

Based on the way it smells, I can already tell it is a sweet drink. It smells exactly like what you expect a Toasted White Chocolate Mocha to smell like, you are going to have to trust me on this.

Upon taking the first sip, I can’t help but cringe. For one, I confirm my assumptions; it is a sweet drink. The white chocolate flavor is prominent and takes over the entire drink.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good drink. The only problem is that it is really sweet. According to the Starbucks recipe, this drink contains four pumps of Toasted White Chocolate Mocha Sauce, and one can definitely tell upon drinking it.

This drink also leaves you with an odd aftertaste but that is only because this drink contains espresso in it because it is a mocha. However, this is something that can be overlooked the more sips you take.

This drink also has whipped cream and holiday sugar sparkles, which is a nice touch in my opinion. Since I got a hot drink, the whipped cream melted into it and made it taste better.

Overall, I rate this drink a 5/10. Again, the only issue I had with it was the fact that it was too sweet. I’m sure I will like it a lot more if I ask for less mocha sauce.

You can buy these holiday drinks at both Kingsville locations, the SUB and off Highway 77.
