UCW makes its way to campus for a match
One, two, three the wrestling bell rings and hard-hitting action hits Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) at 6 p.m. on March 7 at the Steinke Physical Education Center (SPEC) with Undisputed Championship Wrestling (UCW) action.
As the university expands its slots for student-focused events, there has been a lot of attention on this particular showdown.
“It’s going to be a one-of-a-kind event. You’re not going to find another event like this. You’ve definitely seen stuff like it on TV channels, Netflix, HBO Max, AEW, TNT, TBS all of that but ours is live, right in front of you, in your face. This really is an experience of a lifetime.
“ The theatrics and the athletics are some of the best out there, they’re well-trained in everything they do. We’re here to make you believe that what you see in the ring is legitimate, is real, that’s what we’re here for,” Rolando Villarreal Jr, promoter of UCW, said.
Event planning considered input from alumni and strived to create an exciting experience for current students.
“There was a lot of work involved because we had to find the right space, right dates, times etc. We also had to plan an entire marketing campaign and ensure we could execute it. Our team in Event Planning is made up almost entirely of former TAMUK students so we also relied heavily on the input of them for what they thought would be exciting to bring on campus,” Senior Manager-Business Operations, Brent Mcaffee, said.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the first match starts at 7 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased on the second floor of the Memorial Student Union Building in the Event Planning office. Tickets may also be purchased online visiting https://www.undisputedintexas.com/event-details/ucw-presents-javelina-stampede.com.
“I hope students walk away with pride and involvement in campus life. It’s exciting to see the university expanding and hosting dynamic events like these.
“When students show up and participate, it encourages the growth of even more events in the future,” President of Panhellenic Executive Board Pily Stevens said.
