How to Adult: Low-budget summer activities

On the quest for a memorable, affordable summer

Summer is finally upon us, and after a stressful semester, your only plan should be to have a fun and relaxing time. Whether you do these activities by yourself or with a friend, the only problem you will have is deciding which to do first.

One, go to a park. Going to the park is not only free, but fun when you are with the right people. You can have a picnic, read, fly kites and more. If you are at a local park, you can walk around and take in the scenery. If you are able to, go to a national park to hike and/or camp. Whatever you choose to do, do it in a safe manner.

Bike or take an evening stroll. Whether it is around your neighborhood or Javelina Nation, the benefits are all the same. Walking can improve your mental health, build muscle power, endurance and more. Take your headphones and play your favorite songs to enjoy this activity. Do not forget to look both ways when crossing the street.

Go swimming. Go to the beach, a lake, a river- anywhere. Not only does swimming feel good, but like walking, it has its benefits. If you decide to do any of these activities, bring food, drinks and extra towels; you will need it. You can also go fishing. Fishing may not be everyone’s idea of fun, but do not knock it until you try it. Who knows, you might end up liking it. Make sure to take sunscreen with you.

Go to the movies. Going to the movies is always an enjoyable experience for some. Elvis, Thor: Love and Thunder and Lightyear are one of the many movies that are set to hit theaters this summer.

Going to a drive-in theater is also a good alternative in case you want to be comfortable, you can also take your own snacks. If either of these options do not sound ideal, you can simply stay home and watch movies in the comfort of your own home.

Declutter your home. This is the perfect time to get rid of things that no longer serve you. You can donate the things you no longer want, or you can have a yard sale. This activity is guaranteed to reduce stress and increase productivity.

This is just a few of the many things you can do this summer. The activities are endless.

Go out there and live your best life, you deserve it.
