A roll of the dice

TAMUK hosts Casino, Trivia night

University students recently had a chance to test their luck and win some amazing prizes at the recent Casino and Trivia Night.

The event was hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB) on Sept. 12.

“Casino and Trivia Night is a great way to get all students out, and with casino night we have some students [who] like to play blackjack and roulette and the trivia side of it was to get those involved who aren’t interested or don’t know how to play,” Public Relations for CAB Sophia Yzaguirre said.

The prizes for the games did vary from small things such as gummy worms and other snacks to bigger items like ice chests and TVs. Those who participated in the trivia and various casino style games expressed how fun the event was for them.

“I got to participate in the trivia games that were going on. I went up twice and it was pretty nerve racking, but it was still really fun to be engaged,” student Gabriella Flores said.

Despite some students not being familiar with games such as blackjack, there were volunteers stationed at the tables to help them learn how to play and continue to have fun.

“They had me volunteering at the blackjack table dealing, and I was helping out those who have not played the game before or were having a hard time,” Javelina student Xavier Medina said “It was a lot of teaching and learning going on with the students who were playing at the table but they got the hang of it, and it was pretty fun and I would for sure volunteer again.”
