Review: From phone screens to the big screen

Freddy and the band make their film debut

As a fan who has played only the first four games of Five Nights At Freddy’s (FNAF) it was not hard to get excited when the first trailer of this movie dropped. After eight years Scott Cawthon along with Blumhouse production finally brought our favorite band of animatronics to the big screen.

Initially I was afraid due to the critics giving this movie such a low rating but after remembering that these same critics claimed the Mario movie would not make it, I decided to cast out their negativity and watch the movie and see for myself.

After watching the movie two times I can say that it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The story followed the game relatively well with a few tweaks that was needed for a stronger plot and with Matthew Lillard bringing the character of William Afton to life along with Josh Hutcherson playing Mike Schmidt it made the movie even better as both men are very talented and played the roles perfectly.

As for the animatronics, the Jim Henson company absolutely nailed it when it came to brining Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy to life. The use of practical effects and not CGI made this movie all the more realistic. Despite its PG-13 rating the FNAF movie is definitely one to see especially if you are a big fan like myself. For those who are unfamiliar with the lore behind the games, it may be difficult to understand a few things in the movie such as a particular scene that takes place in the movie that even confused some fans but aside from that this movie is enjoyable to anyone who is a horror/thriller movie fan.

Another thing that made the FNAF movie great was their use of various youtubers who made a career of either playing the games or coming up with their theories from the lore and the stories from the games and even the soundtrack from the movie pays homage to those who made songs based on the games. If you have not seen this movie yet it is highly encouraged that you go out and see it either in theaters or by using a subscription to peacock.
