TAMUK experiences sinkhole on campus

Despite the clearance Texas A&M University- Kingsville previous sent to faculty, students and students Lantana Street is still not safe for vehicles or pedestrians.

TAMUK announced to faculty, staff and students,

“A sinkhole has developed on Lantana Street near the intersection of Lantana Street and Avenue B. In order to make repairs, Lantana Street between Avenue B and Engineering Avenue will be closed. 

The sinkhole is nearest to the east side of Lantana by student parking. If you parked on the east side of Lantana St. near the back of the library, please move your vehicle as soon as possible.

Vehicles needing to leave the area may do so at the intersection of Lantana and Engineering.”

On March 6. TAMUK announced,

“The issue on Lantana Street has been fixed and the street is now open.”

Two hours later TAMUK sent an additional announcement,

“Due to ongoing unexpected repairs, Lantana Street between Avenue B and Engineering Avenue will remain closed until further notice.”
