Javelina Day of Giving

More than $600K raised in Day of Giving Most raised in four years

The Javelina Day of Giving raised more than $664,000 this year, marking it the largest amount of donations made to the university is the last four years.

Texas A&M Kingsville held its yearly Javelina Day of Giving on Sept. 15 during which individuals can make online donations to specific areas of the university. The overall amount donated was $664,379.

University leaders were pleased with the money raised.

“The university saw more than 1,000 people make a donation. Most of the donors are our alumni and make a gift to their favorite part of the university,” Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Relations Bradley A. Walker, who is also the CEO of the Texas A&M Kingsville Foundation, said.

The university asks alumni, parents, staff and students for donations on the Day of Giving, a one-day fundraising event. Each contributor can specify the program to which they want their money to be sent.

“The Javelina Day of Giving is a great opportunity for us to acquire resources from a variety of college program supporters,” Dr. Shad D. Nelson, dean of the Dick & Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture & Natural Resources, said. “The leaders of these programs can make strategic investments towards the students we are committed to serve.”

It does not matter how much you donate; what matters is that you give. Any amount of support is helpful to a program’s success, university leaders said.

“They can not thank all of our generous donors enough for all they do to invest in our mission as an athletic department,” Athletic Director Steve Roach said.

Head football coach Michael Salinas said funds help create the best student-athlete experience.

This year’s campaign has ended, but gifts can still be made to this Texas A&M University-Kingsville Foundation.
