The fall 2023 semester comes to an end

Students anticipate graduation

Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) prepares to welcome alumni as students prepare to walk the stage to graduate on Dec 8.  Graduation will be separated with two ceremonies located in the Steinke Physical Education, Gymnasium.

The first ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. for students graduating from the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Education and Human Performance.

The second ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. for students under the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, College of  Business Administration and College of Engineering.

“Approximately 500 prospective graduates are expected to walk the stage next week during two ceremonies,” Chief of Marketing and Communication Adriana Garza- Flores said.

Nadia Hernandez is an undergraduate who is majoring in English and preparing for the big day.

The passion Hernandez has for writing creative stories for TAMUK’s theatre program has inspired her for what the future holds after graduation.

“I think once I graduate, I’ll feel accomplished. I’ve written so much, I’ve worked so hard, I think I’ll finally be able to sit down and have a nice, long victory nap before I continue onto the next chapter of my life,” Hernandez said. “I’m taking a semester off to apply for a master’s program in either Creative Writing or Media.”

Hernandez is not the only one excited to graduate.

Claudia Treviño is a graduate student working on her master’s in business administration.

“Through these degrees that I have obtained and the education that I have learned here at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, I have only added value to myself,” Treviño said.

Treviño has mentioned she potentially seeks to further her education because of her deep love of learning and because of the professors she has met along the way.
