21 Savage Highlights Truth Behind Hip-Hop

From featured artist to featured album

After many features on other artist’s tracks and albums, 21 Savage dropped his new album “American Dream,” and as early in the year as it is the album is easily worthy of a Rap Album of the Year Grammy next time the Grammys roll around in 2025.

With 15 songs and a runtime of 49 minutes and 55 seconds, the album is amazing from start to finish. The album is your average 21 Savage album with songs from his past gang affiliation, but this album was a little different than the rest.

In “American Dream,” 21 Savage seems to endorse violence, but he proceeds to tackle the issue of gang violence, especially in the song “Dark Days.” In this song, 21 sings about how his people, especially the youth, need to stay out of the streets and away from gang violence because of how many friends 21 has seen go. He warns against a life that will only catch up to you in the end.

This album is very good all-around with amazing features such as Metro Boomin and Travis Scott, who also dropped an award-worthy album. My personal favorite song on the album is “Redrum,” which is also the most streamed with around 64 million streams within the first month of the album’s release.

Other amazing songs on the album are “n.h.i.e,” “nee-nah” and “All of Me.” Overall, I give the album a rating of nine out of 10 and while the album is amazing it still isn’t as good as “Savage Mode II” and “I am > I was”.
